Mrs. Alice Mae Cheek Brooks was born, June 25, 1939, to the late, Elvin and Anna Cheek in Randolph County, North Carolina. She made her transition from this earthly life into eternal rest on Monday, December 12, 2022, at home.
Alice spent her childhood helping on the farm. A dedicated caretaker, she went back to school at Durham Technical Community College in 1989 for her Adult Education high school diploma, she continued her education getting her CNA and Locksmith license. She worked at the Museum of Life and Science, took care of the elderly, manage stores. She got saved in 1986 at Emmanuel Fellowship. She joined House of Prayer Deliverance Center as her home church. She was a member of the P.A.C.E. program since 2013 when it started.
She was the pillar of her family, always had her grandkids, willing to help everyone, all the neighborhood kids knew and loved her. She believed in feeding everyone. Her discipline was read the bible and tell what it meant. And if that didn’t work, she had a 6 ft switch to help you remember. She was a strong willed, loving, kind and family-oriented woman. She lived her life with Jesus Christ and left this life with Jesus Christ.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Edwardo, her parents, Elvin and Anna Cheek, a son, Leroy Brooks, a daughter, Hildramae Fluellen, and three brothers and three sisters.
She leaves to cherish her life, two daughters Robin Brooks, of Charlotte, Teresa Hargrove, of Fuquay Varina, four sons, Clayton (Angela) Brooks, of Durham, Angelo (Midora) Brooks, of Durham, Edward (Dalia) Simmons, of Texas, Clayton (Crystal) Keith, of Norwood; two sisters, Lena Mae Brooks, of Ramseur and Henrietta Bethune, of New York; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
