Dilcy E. Sparger of Neptune, NJ was born on October 7, 1922, in Red Springs, NC, to Harvey and Hattie Davis Stubbs. She departed this life on March 15, 2022.
Dilcy lived to be a ripe old age and was the matriarch of a five star generation family. Prior to her retirement she was employed by I.V. Miller & Sons, Ocean Twp., NJ. She was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church, Asbury Park for many years.
Dilcy was married to James N. Sparger; and to this union three children were born.
Dilcy loved spending time with her grandchildren; watching wrestling; especially Hulk Hogan; doing crossword puzzles; watching the soaps and Jerry Springer. She loved baking cakes; and on Sundays she would always have three or four different cakes awaiting her grandchildren’s arrival.
Dilcy lived most of her adult life in New Jersey; but when her health began to fail, she relocated to the loving care of her daughter in Siler City, NC. Never wanting to be without a church family, she associated herself with Lewis Grove Church; under the leadership of Bishop Lawrence Tate.
Dilcy was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Hattie; her husband, James; her son, Richard Stubbs; her grandson, Russell Washington; one great granddaughter; one great-great grandson; three sisters and one brother.
