Mary Lois Staley Maxwell

Mary Lois Staley Maxwell was born July 30, 1930, in Moore County, North Carolina to the late Rosa Davis Staley and Charlie Staley. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 7, 2023.

Mary Lois began her early education in Moore County. She finished her high school education at Central High School in Asheboro, North Carolina. Her early Christian experience began at Oakland Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. Upon marrying the love of her life Otis Maxwell Sr and moving to Greensboro. She attended Oakland Baptist and was the secretary and sung on the choir.

She was employed for many years as a sub for Guilford County Schools, formerly Greensboro City Schools cafeteria food nutrition. Bothwell Rehabilitation Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also was a Nanny for the Murphy Family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Madge Brooks, Etrulia Street, Anne Esther Staley, Clayton Staley, Earlie Staley, Hearlie Staley and Herman Staley; also a special niece, Charlotte Staley Feaster.

Mary Lois is survived by: one daughter, Belinda Fay Maxwell Sellars, Greensboro, two sons Otis Maxwell Jr and Mark Maxwell (Regina Hampton Maxwell) both of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Shadea (Jonathan), Tori, Oren, Najiah, Ellis, four great grandchildren, Tomaiah, Ryan, Allayah, Breton; nieces: Vivian Siler, Jennie Andrews, Sandra Bowles (Arthur Bowles), Iris Childs (James Childs); one nephew, Charles “Buddy” Staley and a host of cousins and other relatives.
