Robert Jordan was born on March 2, 1932, in Chatham County, N.C. to the late Clyde and Edna (Foushee) Jordan. He departed this life on February 23, 2024, at Jim and Betsy Bran Hospice Home of UNC Healthcare in Pittsboro, N.C.
He professed Christ early in life and joined Lambert Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death. He was a Deacon, Trustee, Usher, Graveyard Consultant, Custodian, Groundskeeper and managed the kitchen. He was also a faithful member of the Morning Star Gospel Singers, Male Chorus, Harmonizers and the Mass Choir. He, along with other members were instrumental in the building the new sanctuary. Robert was dedicated to the life and preservation of the church and was always eager to assist in any area needed.
He received his education from Chatham County Training School is Siler City N.C. On April 28, 1951, Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Bernice Peoples. To this union three children were born; Philip, Alice “Libby” and Ramona “Suzette”.
He was born with a gift of working with his hands and became skillful at repairing cars, lawnmowers and working with wood. He loved sports, especially the Dodgers, coaching, watching westerns, hunting and “His Dogs”.
Robert was employed by Chatham Novelties and retired from Collins & Aikman. After retiring he developed a love for harvesting copper and metal. He loved entertaining family and friends with his many life stories and jokes. He was well known in the surrounding areas as the Master Chef at cooking cabbage and sweet potato pies.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; Parents, Clyde and Edna; Sisters, Helen, Mary, Louise, Edna, Earnestine, Marie and Pauline; Brother, Clarence. He leaves to honor his memory, son, Philip (Debra) of Houston, TX; daughters, Alice ”Libby” Pitre (Douglas) of Houston, TX and Ramona “Suzette” Jordan of Mebane, N.C.; Grandchildren; Dawnyel, Velekia, Kandace, Christopher, Kyron, Charles III “Tripp” and Cameron; Great Grandchildren; Cynara, Jordan, Oriana, Orellia, Brooklyn, London, Canaan, Kyron Paul, and Ravyn; Great- Great Grandchildren; Imanii, Riley, Nassir, Nia, Ermias and Reese; two Sisters-in-law, Blondean and Peonia, a host of special nieces, nephews and childhood friends.
