Rev. David Suber Obituary

Minister David Suber was born on December 1, 1937 and departed this life peacefully to go home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2022.  He was the son of the late Willie Hope Suber and the late Annie Louise Chestnut Suber.  He was the 2nd oldest son and the 2nd of nine children born to this union. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Tommie Suber and Clyde Eugene Suber; 2 sisters, Nancy Louise Suber and Ann Suber Knight; friend Monolia Harris and friend’s son Charles Myers.

Minister David Suber loved the Lord.  He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend with an affectionate laugh, beautiful smile and a very big heart, helping any and everybody he could.

David was educated in the Guilford County School System.  He attended Rena Bullock Junior High School 1st-9th grades and the James B. Dudley High School 10th-12th grades.  He was a 1958 graduate of Dudley High School.  He was employed by Sears & Roebuck for many years and Cone Mills for 43 years where he retired at the age of 73.

David joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age.  He was an Adult Class Sunday School Teacher, associate minister of St. John, Trustee, member of the A. B. Bass Fellowship Choir, member of the Male Chorus, member of Ward #3 and Chairman of Men’s Day for many years.  He also filled in as the preacher (along with the other associate minister at that time) for morning service, one of the times when St. John didn’t have a pastor.

After going to High Point to stay with his daughter, he attended the Emmanuel Christian Daycare Center where he enjoyed fellowshipping and making friends with others in the daycare center. He remained at the daycare center until recently when he had to leave because of his failing health.

David leaves to cherish his loving memories: two daughters, Monica Lynn Suber Wright (Jeff) Pleasant Garden, NC; Marcia Davetta Suber High Point NC; one son, Michael Dwayne Suber (Rita) Greensboro, NC; one brother, Robert Suber (Thelma) Greensboro, NC; three sisters, Annie Bell Taylor (Charles) Pleasant Garden, NC; Barbara Marie Suber Williams (Thurl) Greensboro, NC; Melinda Suber Wallington (Larry) Wilmington, NC; Friend’s daughters and sons he cared for and help raised, Sharon Harris, Greensboro, NC; Kathleen Harris Banks (George) Kernersville, NC; John Kenny Harris (Melissa) Martinsville, VA; Lemuel Harris (Regina) Kinston NC; very special friends Janie May & some of the staff members of K&W Cafeteria Greensboro, NC; twenty four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
