Rev. Ruth Lee Brown McGill was born to the Union of the late Grady Brown, Sr. And Lala Isley on June 26, 1932. On February 19, 2020, she went home to be with the Lord.
Ruth retired from the City of New York. Following retirement, and after her religious studies, she was ordained and served as a minister at First Calvary Baptist Church, Harlem, N.Y. She loved serving the Lord through her pastoral duties, prayer, visitation, and other volunteer activities. On her journey here on earth, she touched many others including parishioners. She leaves behind a piece of love for all of us. As Christ creates each one of us in His likeness, He also touched Ruth, with what many considered, a special strong gift of faith and love. She will be loved greatly and highly missed by many she encountered.
Ruth went home to rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior. She was proceeded in death by her father, Grady Brown Sr.; mother, Lala Brown Staley; stepfather, Herman Levon Staley; and husband, Bennett McGill. Also, Ruth was preceded in death by her three siblings: Doretha Brown Robertson [Robert], Grady Brown Jr. [Lula Mae] and Betty Gene Brown.
Ruth will be missed by her daughter Brenda Spencer of Harrisburg, PA., and her grandchildren: Latoya Williams, Terry Williams Jr. and Whitney Spencer as well as her great-grandchildren: Jaelynn, Terry III, Jurnee, and Kamya all from Harrisburg, Pa. Ruth also left behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.
